US healthcare discussion March 31st (TSF)

The next meeting of the Triangle Socialist Forum will be Saturday, March 31st, 4:30-6pm, in the large meeting room of the Chapel Hill Public Library.  The meeting is about what is wrong with the USA's healthcare system, possible reforms, and alternatives.  There will be a guest speaker from the NC Committee to Defend Health Care ( www.ncdefendhealthcare.org), and I plan to research some basics about how medical care is handled in some of the countries which call themselves socialist.

We had one of our best discussions in the socialism meeting, and some new people got involved.  There was a scheduling problem, so the meeting was moved to the large meeting room, and meeting in a circle there worked well, so I want to try that format again this time, and this could be a popular topic.  There was interest in discussing the healthcare system, thus the upcoming meeting's topic.  I'm still working on the Iraq teach-in.  The group could have a format of having general meetings, such as those on healthcare and Iraq, as well as meetings with required readings, for example on the development of socialist thought, further readings on Marxism, why the USSR fell, defining fascism, etc.
