238th anniversary of the defeat of the Regulators

Today is the 238th anniversary of the Battle of Alamance, which ended the War of the Regulation, in what was then western North Carolina.  In a rehearsal for the Revolution, farmers took up arms after their complaints about unscrupulous and abusive officials were not addressed.  The rebels were known as Regulators, and were routed by the colonial militia at Alamance.  There will be events at the Alamance Battleground this weekend.
