No to the EU – the
Union of European Monopolies
When you have an EU that creates more
unemployment than jobs, and reforms that favor the bosses and worsen
the conditions of the workers.
When you have an EU that claims that
the euro reduces inflation, while the population suffers from the
rising cost of living (food, drugs, public transportation, fuel oil).
When you have an EU that pretends to
defend peace, while it establishes a European Army for combat in
cooperation with NATO and leads wars to protect the investments of EU
companies around the world.
When you have an EU that pretends to
defend its member states but builds a supranational state that
governs with dictates to its member states.
When you have an EU that urgently
demands the free movement of labor power, but promotes xenophobia and
reaction to split and divide the working class.
When you have an EU that pretends to be
the guardian of the environment and climate, but leaves the
multinational companies free to pollute, to loot the resources and to
export toxic waste to Africa.
When you have an EU that does not allow
people to express their opposition to the EU, such as the Danish NO
in 1992 and 2015, the Irish NO in 2008, the Dutch and the French in
2005 and the British in 2017.
When you have a European Parliament
that is a mask for the financial oligarchy, a source of discord
between the traditional parties of austerity and the populist parties
that spread social demagogy, chauvinism and racism.
When we are faced with such an EU, we
the workers and peoples of the European countries must say "Enough!
Never again!"
We do not believe your lies. You cannot
and will never want to turn this Union of European Monopolies into
something that benefits the working class, the people and the youth.
The facts show the opposite.
The European Union is an imperialist,
neoliberal, capitalist and warlike construction for the benefit of
the monopolies and the rich. Defending the EU and the values of the
financial oligarchy does not serve as a bulwark against the extreme
right, the nationalist and fascist forces, much less opens the door
to solidarity and international cooperation with other peoples who do
not want to be dominated by the diktats of the EU.
The peoples of many countries are
protesting, striking and demonstrating against the consequences of
the politics of the EU and the governments of its member states.
We support these protests and
participate in them. We defend the right of all peoples and nations
to exercise their sovereignty and to decide their own future.
This cannot be resolved by placing a
ballot in the polls of the elections of the European Parliament in
May 2019. We develop international solidarity and fight against
nationalist and chauvinistic policies.
