ICMLPO: Solidarity with the workers and people of Burkina Faso

October 2022. A new coup d'état has taken place in Burkina Faso, the second in the last nine months. On September 30, 2022, military forces overthrew Lieutenant Colonel Paul Henri Sandaogo Damiba, who took power on January 24, 2022, through a similar action.

Damiba, puppet of French imperialism, established a government characterized by corruption and had as a hidden agenda the restoration to power of the former dictator Blaise Compaoré; therefore, the people fought against him. On September 29, 30 and October 1, in several cities, and particularly in Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso, there were massive popular mobilizations, to express the repudiation of the government of Damiba and the domination of imperialism and as an expression of the search for a real change in favor of the workers and people.

This new coup d'état is taking place in the midst of a serious political and security crisis for the population, due to the reactionary civil war imposed by the imperialist powers – above all French imperialism – and the presence since 2015 of armed terrorist groups – ISIS and Al-Qaeda – at their service.

Damiba's dismissal is nothing more than a change at the palace level, which is why our sister party, the Revolutionary Communist Party of Volta, "calls on the insurgent people and the patriotic and revolutionary youth to be aware and not to have illusions about the new coup plotters who come from the same mold of the Patriotic Movement for Safeguarding and Restoration (MPSR) that brought Damiba to power."

The International Conference of Marxist-Leninist Parties and Organizations, ICMLPO, expresses its solidarity with the workers, youth and people of Burkina Faso who are fighting to expel the troops of French imperialism and the terrorist gangs of ISIS and Al-Qaeda from their territory, and to put an end to the rule of the local exploiting classes. Only by putting an end to imperialist rule, to the exploitation of the reactionary bourgeoisie and the remnants of the feudal forces will the workers and peoples of Burkina Faso be able to win their social and national emancipation.

Long live the struggle of the workers, youth and people of Burkina Faso!

Solidarity with the Revolutionary Communist Party of Volta!
