The BBC is reporting that Iran (again?) warned the US off, through Switzerland, or US bases will be attacked. There is probably more emphasis on what Iran just did than on the initial attack on an embassy and not much attention to the way Biden seems to have given Israel the power to start a "Western" war with Iran. Maybe no country other than Israel wants a wider war with Iran, but Biden doesn't seem to be trying very hard to prevent one in 2024 or in the near future. The US, UK, France, and Jordan downed many or almost all of the about 300 drones and missiles. 90 or 99% of them? Biden praised Israel, it showed "remarkable capacity" against the first direct Iranian strike on Israel, when other countries carried out much of the air defense and the US provides the means to Israel? Russia can't beat Ukraine, they say, though somehow Russia could steamroll through the NATO countries. Beyond bombing, is the US able to carry out a war against Iran and Co. in the Middle East, and the proxy war in Ukraine, and threaten a war with China at the same time? Is Biden going to set things up now, and then he or Trump [or whoever is president after 2028] can start a war with Iran in the next four or eight years, the way Bill Clinton prepared the ground for George W Bush and Dick Cheney with Iraq? In recent decades US wars have often been carefully planned, but maybe Biden is about to just bump into a war. Now an Israeli, the Likud vice head of the Knesset, said that Israel didn't attack on Iranian soil and that "there is no starvation in Gaza," it is "a vicious lie," "terror activists" can or will be targeted in any country, and all of the hostages in Gaza are being raped every day. A former Israeli diplomat who writes for Haaretz said that Netanyahu is in a fix and that the Biden administration is concerned that Netanyahu wants to drag them into a war with Iran.

Breaking: Biden Foreign Policy, Israel Impunity, Leads to Dangerous Escalation
Washington, DC | www.adc.org | April 13, 2024 - The Biden administration’s unwillingness to end Israel’s six month long genocide in Gaza and the complete disregard for United States and international law, is a major reason for the dangerous escalation in the region this evening. Longstanding U.S. policy of impunity & unconditional support for Israel is what has brought us to the brink of a much larger, and very deadly regional war. Enabling Israel’s genocide & regional hubris beyond Gaza is walking the region into total devastation.
Israel and the U.S. have been determined to ignite a larger regional war for decades. By attacking sovereign Arab nations they have made their intentions of destabilizing the whole region very clear. Targeting the Iranian consulate in the Syrian capital, Damascus, was a deliberate and intentional escalation with a complete understanding of the possible ramifications.
ADC Executive Director Abed Ayoub said, “The United States' unwavering support for Israel, even during an ongoing genocide, not only undermines its credibility but also portrays it as weak on the global stage. A stance of unconditional support without accountability makes the U.S. complicit and ineffective in advocating for international norms and justice. At a time when courageous leadership is most needed, the U.S. has never been weaker on a global stage.”
Israel's strike on the Iranian consulate in Damascus was a clear violation of the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations and the 1963 Vienna Convention on Consular Relations. Israel has proven to be a rogue genocidal state violating every norm of International law. Any framing that justifies their attack on the consulate, and labels the countermeasures by Iran as “unprovoked” is willfully supporting Israeli propaganda.
The U.S. plays a critical role in ensuring this does not escalate into a much larger war. The Israeli government clearly hopes the U.S. will fall in line and give it the cover, protection and weapons needed to intensify attacks directly on Iranian territory, and on neighboring countries, including Lebanon. The Biden Administration must reverse course on its handling of the ongoing genocide and demand an immediate, permanent and unconditional ceasefire. Furthermore, the Administration must halt all weapons sales to Israel immediately.
As Israel continues to slaughter Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank, it is desperate to change the narrative and be seen as a victim. This comes after two days of vicious attacks on Palestinian towns and villages by thousands of armed Israeli settlers under the protection of Israeli soldiers, killing at least two Palestinians (one of whom a child), burning and destroying at least 70 homes and property in the West Bank and continuing their ethnic cleansing agenda on all fronts.
We must not lose focus or fall for Israeli and U.S. propaganda that empowers their imperialist and settler-colonialist narrative. Free Palestine.

Say no to a wider war in the Middle East! Hands off Iran!

The U.S. and its proxy Israel are provoking a wider war in the Middle East. For the past 6 months, the U.S. has been assisting Israel in the Gaza genocide. Israel and the U.S. have launched repeated attacks on Lebanon, Yemen, Syria, and Iraq. Iran is now responding to the deadly Israeli airstrikes on its diplomatic mission in Syria. The possibility of a wider war is here. A response by our movement is needed. All of us who stand with Palestine and oppose the genocide, who insist on peace with justice, need to be ready to hit the streets. We need to add “Hands off Iran!” to our list of demands.
We need to understand the gravity of the situation. Israel and the United States bear the entire responsibility for what is happening. They are carrying out massacre after massacre. U.S. bombs are killing kids. The U.S.-backed Israeli apartheid state is weak. The occupation of Palestine is facing a real challenge from the popular resistance. So, the Zionists are lashing out at others in the Middle East who have the courage to stand with Palestine.
In the coming hours and days, it is possible that Israel and the U.S. will launch military attacks on Iran. Iran has helped the Palestinian resistance, and we should stand with Iran just as we stand with Palestine. That means opposing any war moves against Iran. This a critical moment in history. The U.S. empire is declining. It is trying to hold onto all that it can, but people all over the world are not having it. They want freedom and national liberation. That’s a good thing. Any movement that opposes imperialism or empire is positive. No one wants to live under foreign domination, and resistance to occupation is a just cause.
A widening war needs to be met with protests. We need to speak out loud and clear. We demand hands off Iran. We are in solidarity with Palestine. The people have power, and we will exercise it in the streets.
