There should be no confusion
Neither Trump, nor Zelenski nor Putin
The first thing is to be clear that NATO and the puppet Zelenski and the Ukrainian oligarchy, gave Putin the motives for the military invasion. Since 2014 NATO began the process of surrounding Russia militarily and it had to respond.
Putin responded to the threat that NATO’s presence so close to its borders constitutes.
He intervened militarily in the territory of another country, and such an event like that has never been supported by the Left in any time or region.
Not at all. Whatever the reasons that have been invoked, military intervention of one country against another is inadmissible. Supporting that would be "sharpening a knife to one's own throat." Because when this is turned against one’s own country, which is possible in times of imperialist hegemony, then there will be no morality to reject it.
We Dominicans who have been victims of two Yankee interventions, cannot admit to something like this.
The PCD gave a historic display of responsibility when in 1968 it rejected the USSR invasion of Czechoslovakia. And it did that in a memorable public document, for its political position and literary correctness.
That intervention was rejected even when it was done in the name of socialism.
No. Definitely not. The military intervention of one country against another is unacceptable. Better said: It must be rejected.
Today, Ukraine, led by Zelenski and a lackey oligarchy, with a fascistic DNA, is the center of an imperialist purpose. Trump says he wants to end the war, but he wants Yankee imperialism to control the mineral resources of that country. And Zelenski does not object, because he is the expression of the pro-Western oligarchy. He calls for military guarantees from the United States.
Trump’s US will not give him any military guarantees, because he wants an alliance with Putin’s Russi-, thinking of containing China, which is his real target.
Ukraine is a main border in Eurasia. And this region has always been key in geopolitics, and now it is even more so, when a re-arrangement of world forces is taking place, the US and Western hegemony is losing strength, and the East is strengthening with China leading the way.
Creating a distance between Russia and China has been a US strategy since the time of Nixon and Kissinger, and now it is more pressing.
There should be no confusion. Putin is an expression of an ultra-nationalist oligarchy, and it is from that position that he opposes NATO, which makes him sympathetic to Dominican revolutionaries, because he is confronting Yankee imperialism, our main external enemy.
Zelenski is the expression of the Ukrainian oligarchy, of a fascistic DNA, a pimp of Western capital.
Trump is the fascist face of the Yankee bourgeoisie and imperialism, at a time when its hegemony is crumbling. He acts crazy, but he is not crazy.
And so, in the face of the conflict in UKRAINE, the very simple claim should and must be: no to NATO, yes to peace, no to war.
The workers and peoples are victims of that war, and they cannot take the part of either side.
