Events against Israel's attack on Gaza

I picked up this listing of several events throughout the Triangle and in DC in solidarity with the Palestinians this weekend on a listserve.  Because Hamas refuses to surrender the rights of the Palestinian people, despite the blockade and pressure by the US and European imperialists, and because of internal Israeli politics, Israel launched a brutal bombing campaign against the people of Gaza a few days ago.  Israel repeats what it did to Lebanon in the summer of 2006 and hopefully it will lose to Hamas as it lost to Hezbollah.  If Israel wants the rocket attacks to end, it should stop stealing other people's land and resources.

Besides the huge issue of justice for Palestine, this should matter to Americans because our government props up, shields, and supplies the Israeli government, Israel serves the interests of American imperialism, and Israel's actions encourage attacks against Americans, though it is the US government that is at fault, not the American people.  After the Israeli government, the USA is most responsible for Israel's actions, and Israel's policies hurt the interests of the average American.

You are welcome! That is in anticipation that you will someday thank men like me that defended your right to speak against the country you live in. Quite a paradox, don’t you think? America to me is like family. Some of the family has certainly done wrong over the years, but that doesn’t change the fact that they’re family. Some members of the family are black sheep that curse the family they came from, much like you and your members. The paradox (which I’ve heard is the truth standing on its head) is that should we be attacked as we were on September 11th, you will be protected too, because you’re an American. So, you’re welcome.
