DWQ accepts the Jordan Lake survey

Apparently the private survey commissioned by Neal Hunter, who benefits from its results, as do others pushing for 751 Assemblage, was accepted by the State Division of Water Quality on the 4th, deferring to the County's judgement (see www.indyweekblogs.com/triangulator/2009/02/06/state-regulators-approve-jordan-lake-revisions).  Before this can go through, the County Commissioners have to conduct a public hearing, so they need to hear from people and see a crowd at that meeting.  Bowser and Howerton were not there for the prior vote, so they could oppose accepting the survey, and Heron and Reckhow opposed it last year, while Page voted for acceptance.

I also heard that it still might be useful to contact DWQ, so here are some addresses:

I thought Julie Ventaloro was responsible for this decision, but the actual letter to Durham County was written by John Hennessy.

There is a petition, online at www.PetitionOnline.com/jrdnsrvy/.
