Chickens in Durham and suburban sprawl

There is a petition online at:

to allow chickens in the Durham city limits.  An email said they are currently only allowed in areas zoned residential suburban tier 20.  I think this is a good idea, as long as it is not too noisy, and I am for urban agriculture and gardening.  SEEDS NC might be behind the petition, and for information on chicken husbandry, contact SEEDS' Durham Inner City Gardeners program co-coordinator Kavanah Ramsier (kramsier at seedsnc dot org / (919) 683 1197 / SEEDS Community Garden on 706 Gilbert St.)

Also, the developer of the proposed Boylan project, in the rural area on the west side of 751 at the intersection of 751 and Fayetteville Rd., across from the Jordan at Southpointe "conservation subdivision" site, will be meeting with the community tonight at 7 at the Chacellor's Ridge Clubhouse, 1511 Sophomore).
