Durham Library room reservations free for non-profit use!

The County Commissioners voted at the meeting Monday to return to the old policy for non-profit room reservations (free, with a $25 dollar fee if there will be refreshments).  This might not apply to the Main Library's Auditorium, and for-profit use still requires a fee.  This is a victory for the community, and I think the campaign by the Durham People's Alliance had a lot of influence.  The PA was not alone in registering its opposition to the fee, though.

w00t! Thanks for spreading the word, and a 2nd to your thanks to all who made it happen! Do you think it will be easy to find out what public events are being announced for these spaces when they happen?

Thanks. I don't think the Library plans to list upcoming meetings, but if you want to contact the Library about this, see www.durhamcountylibrary.org, and at least some of the libraries have comment boxes. At the Chapel Hill Public Library they have an electronic display listing meetings each day, which helps with publicity (but they also restrict flyers on their bulletin boards).

I checked, and all meeting rooms, including the Main Library Auditorium, are free for non-profit use. When I posted I was not sure about the Auditorium.
