The State of Our Waterways, Thursday

Ths is an interesting water quality presentation Thursday.

Thursday, June 5th volunteer water quality monitors in
the western Triangle will speak about the trends in
their adopted creeks and rivers and the work their
groups have done, at 7pm at the Durham Department of
Solid Waste Management Building (directions below).
The event was organized to highlight the threats to
the Triangle's waterways and the work of volunteer
waterway monitors, and to discuss how to improve water
quality.

There will be speakers representing the Eno and Haw
rivers, and Bolin, Ellerbe, Little, New Hope, and
Northeast creeks, and Durham Stormwater Services,
which recently finished a report on waterway health in
Durham County.

The event was organized by Northeast Creek Stream
Watch with Durham Stormwater Services, Ellerbe Creek
Watershed Association, Eno River Association, Friends
of Bolin Creek, Friends of South Ellerbe Creek, Haw
River Association, and New Hope Audubon Society.

The Department of Solid Waste Management is located at
1833 Camden Avenue, which is between Midland Terrace
and E. Club Boulevard near the I-85 East Club
Boulevard Exit. From I-85, take the East Club Blvd
Exit. Travel west for a short distance. Turn left onto
Camden Ave. Solid Waste is on the right, before you
get to Midland Terrace.
